As time goes by, I will be adding more. I have said before that there are only around 20 which I would advise anyone to submit to. And here is going to be the list of those which have my full support. Some are owned by friends, some by people I don’t even like. But nevertheless, I have done a lot of testing and come to the conclusion that you should not bother with directories unless you really know that they are going to benefit you in some ways, whether it’s thru direct traffic or getting search engine benefits. Here is the beginning of my list:
Aviva
Best of the Web Directory
Directory Dump
Forplex
Four Find
Frog Engine
Full of Search
Romow
Search Buster
Seven Seek
Yhay Directory
Directory Forums:
Directories Forum
Directory Network
Frog Engine
Search Buster
You should also visit my profile on Page Power.

I have actually been asking myself this a lot lately with all of the talk about Google making it more and more important to have fresh content in order to rank high. I remember a couple of years ago when you saw some really old sites with top rankings, many of them some geocities sites abandoned for a few years. Now I am looking thru Google for the term webmaster blog and see a blog on top which has not updated much lately, but did a lot in the beginning. So I guess once you have been accepted as an authority site, you can kick back for a while and you will still be on top. I know it takes some good links, but I think there should be more of a fluctuation. I see the guy’s last post is about Matt’s paid links thing and before that it was 6 months or so back that he bothered to post.

This one I love and am happy it’s going to represent the site I still promote and take care of the most. Frog Engine has been what I had to create a couple of years ago to have something to work with quickly. It was a site that came thru when it had to, a tool for ranking people and also something to brand. I now have found new inspiration, I love this logo and it will be implemented soon

I have just taken a look at a couple of web directories and realized the mass amounts of links they have in the footer. Personally, I make mistakes judging a book by its cover. But when I talk about cover I talk about the people who I have been networking with. I now realize that there is only a few people which actually have sense and make sense. The others will pimp out their “directories” to the point where they will get banned and they move on. I myself also realize that when you have a lot of directories, it will be hard to really do something good with them unless you have volunteer or quality paid editors. Frog Engine will remain the directory I will take care of and keep improving. I also know that the owners of the Forplex Business Directory and the Aviva Web Directory will do the same. But how about the others? I personally cannot vouche for many. I have seen too much to have faith in most of them. It’s sad to say that I have basically been on the bottom of the ocean mingling with those who have no real talents and are one step above those who blatently spam.
When I look at Digitalpoint now, it’s sad to see what has happened in the past year. Maybe I will withdraw a little bit and work on my Real Estate Directory, because when you spend too much time on DP, it will kill your creativity and make you feel like there is no other way out there to make some money than spam some shitty link farm with a halfass logo.

was to close this thread. Why are we so worried about PR? Because that is the only thing we chase? Michael Goldman has an excellent domain name and whether or not it has PR now shouldn’t matter. Sure he used it as a selling point, but my point is that he is one of the most respected members the forum has ever had and I know that whatever he touches turns to gold, man.
