Imageshack vs. Watshit

Looking at Imageshack and then comparing Watshit you see right away that Imageshack is not that great. Watshit doesn’t have any ads and you can upload a lot bigger images. Watshit is much faster and you don’t have to login.
Imageshack has become very popular due to good promotion. IS was early in the game and benefitted from the snowball effect.
I personally believe that Watshit has everything it takes to become just as if not more popular down the road.

No Ads. No popups. No hassle.

This says it all.

And so does this:

“Upload your shit!”

RIP Pavarotti

Here is a great performance of his with Brian Eno and U2

I personally am not an opera fan, but when I see someone dedicated and willing to reach out to other styles of music, I respect that.

Phil Collins Drum Solo

Filed under This and That, Videos

Check it out, don’t care how old he is, he is a natural born drummer. Saw him live twice. No video can capture the experience of hearing him live, so if you get a chance to see him on his current tour with Genesis, don’t even think … buy your tickets, smuggle in a camera, post the footage on youtube and leave a link to it in a comment for this post.

Another cool drum duet:

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

More songs by Phil Collins and Genesis:
No Son of Mine:

The first song published from the “We Can’t Dance” CD back in 1991

In Too Deep:

What an awesome song. I’ve heard it live in 1986 when we went to Hannover, Germany to see Genesis. This song kicks ass.

No Reply at All:

In 2004 I saw Phil live in L.A. and when he played this song, the video appeared on the screen behind him. That is when I realized just how much he has aged since I have first become what I consider his biggest fan ever.

Tonight, Tonight, Tonight:

This song from Invisible Touch is the first release where you have one of the awesome Genesis instrumentals kicking in half way thru of the song. Phil is on the drums and kicking ass with his old buddies. I love the song, the feel, the build up. Phil Collins is one of the best musicians of all time and sometimes his true abilities get lost in first single releases of their CDs. It seems like they have to make a couple of commercial songs before the real Genesis is allowed to play on the radio. Well, this is the real Phil with the real Genesis he has created once Peter Gabriel left.

In The Glow of the Night:

Funny to hear him speak first. I keep forgetting he is British. You never hear the accent when somebody sings.
Here is part 2 from another live show:

Driving the last Spike Live:

The only thing I don’t like about his live performances is that he himself doesn’t play the drums. Nothing against Chester Thompson, but nobody plays the drums like Phil, especially not on songs like this one. Very emotional song, Genesis at its best!
Phil Collins:
True Colors:

I love the beat, it’s not the typical Phil kicking ass on the drums style, but you can tell he is the one who programmed the drum machine. What I love about the song is that it’s produced by R&B legend Babyface Edmonds. (shit I forgot his real first name)
Can’t Stop Loving You

Every Phil Collins song I hear … I remember the first time I have heard it. And the month and year. Well, almost, but my guess is that this one is from 2002, later 2002 … like October.

Everyday:

Drum machine? Why would the world’s best drummer use a drum machine on one of his songs? I guess this is to show that drumming comes from the heart more than technique. I love the fact that the beat is something that I could do. Phil has always had the drive to rise above his trade and this song shows that he wants to be taken serious for more than what he already has a God given talent for.
Something happened on the way to heaven:

Easy Lover:

You Can’t Hurry Love

From the same album “Hello I must be going” is
“I Don’t Care Anymore”:

What a cool drum/vocal combination.
Awesome live version of the same song:

Live in Peru 1995. Same crue as always. Nathan East, Darryl Stuermer …
From the same album:
“I Cannot Believe it’s True”:

Excellent, nice fresh drum beat. His first album “Face Value” was pretty depressing. This one is different. It has the “the worst is behind me” feel to it. Especially with this song.
Against All Odds Live Aid 1985

He fucked up slipping on the key of the piano.
So here is the clean version:

Since this is my all time favorite song, here is also the version by Mariah Carey who happens to be the same age as me:

Since we are at Mariah, here is her version of Endless Love with the late and great Luther Vandross:

which brings me to one of Luther’s last songs about his dad passing away, a song created and performed shortly before he himself left this world:

What a cool song and tribute to our children and parents.

Why Phil Collins? Because ever since I was 13, he has been my favorite artist. Phil is the best drummer ever and his voice is unique. He is a true artist and achieved stardom despite the fact that he doesn’t have the pop star looks which were necessary to have at the time he has achieved stardom. Phil Collins is the best artist there has ever been. I was always thinking one day I would meet him, but I haven’t done so yet. Maybe it will still happen. Who knows …

You can read more information on Phil Collins on Drummer World

Here are certain songs I may not really like that much, but still … they are done by PC, so if you listen deep down, you will find something in them ;)

OK here is some more music stuff I like, I guess this may become the longest blog post in the history of blogs, but so be it:

Usher and Babyface (cool combo) tributing to Destiny’s Child:

You know Usher, the dude I met in Atlanta years before he hit the BIG TIME with:

Snoop Dogg and R. Kelly:

R. Kelly “World’s Greatest”:

You remember the winter Olympics in Salt Lake? He opened it. It was the highlight. I love R. Kelly. He may be sinful and love boning and Ping on 14 year old chicks. I hate to think that doing shit like that is what inspires awesome songs like this. “I am a giant”? Yeah, I guess you are dude if the the chick is young enough to know better. ;)

You are not alone, Michael Jackon

I love how he wears angel wings in the beginning. Reminds me of this freak. But nevertheless, Michael is doing an R. Kelly song and Robert (R. Kelly) let’s him use it. So the song in itself is worth listening to. Michael is a different story. His music I love. But he himself is one fucked up dude. Not judging, just saying: no matter how famous you are. If you’re deviant, then you should get what others without your popularity have had coming. You got lucky, Michael and the show you put on when I saw you live twice in 1988 was great. Now stop inviting little boys to have “warm milk and cookies” and get cozy. 45 year old men don’t sleep with 13 year old boy.

Speaking about Michael Jackon, do you guys remember in the early 90’s when Michael disappeared in London when he was first accused of molesting a then 13 year old boy? Well, Elton John in an interview with (I think) Dianne Sawyer or Barbara Walters) told that Michael stayed with him to get things sorted out. He then stated that he would have never settled for 20 Million but would have gone to court. Way to go, Elton. I like how you allowed your friend Michael to crash at your spot and get out of the limelight for a few days, and I love even more how you bring it out in the open and speak your mind. Here is one of your songs called “Sacrifice” which has one of the coolest combinations of 5 notes:

“Have you ever seen the rain?”

Interviews:
Phil Collins on tour with Genesis (”We Can’t Dance” 2002):

Dreaming while you sleep

Live shows:

Phil Live Earth:

In The Air Tonight Live:

When he performed it live in the Staples arena in L.A., the light show was the best and enhanced the song like nothing I’ve ever seen. Considering that the original video was pretty lame and very amateur looking, that show has reintroduced the song to me to where I now like it more than I ever did. Sorry, Phil but I can do a better job than this using my own webcam. :)

Rand of SEOMoz attacks Aviva Directory with a base less statement!

In June Jeff wrote this post on his blog which made Rand out razed. The discussion was about the fact that should SEOMoz’s Page Strength tool be put in the Quick Buck Crew, this website lists the people who cheat, scam and do everything for money!

Well what the issue was that SEOMoz built a tool named Page Strength Tool whose function was to tell the strength of page which by calculating IBLs, they never were correct with this tool! Jeff and many webmasters helped this tool to get popularity among the others on the net. Rand then made that tool used by free members only once a day and for premium members where you have to pay them to use that tool they kept unlimited usage!!!

Now after a month Rand came back up with his white board friday and sued Aviva directory by saying that they are not an authority site based on the fact that they don’t rank for the terms in the title of Aviva Directory which happens to contain “Information Web Directory”. Well as we all know Jeff does brilliant promotion for his directory. He has been in the front page of Digg more than once and has received a lot of organic links! Well every body knows that domain age, organic IBLs are the chief factor of gaining authority!

Well as everybody has a friend John of v7n takes a good participation in this contest. He gives his brilliant SEO insights in this post and a good discussion starts in this thread. Then Rand himself replies to this thread and says doing such type of protection was out of character!

It doesn’t suit a reputed SEO to talk like that on a public forum!

Then we found that Bob Mutch of seocompany.ca joins to protect rand by saying that rand is correct and Aviva is not a authority site (lol he couldn’t make the difference between authority domain and authority site) in this post. John made valid points in his replies but bob kept on disagreeing in this thread and this thread.

Then Mike also had the same view that “Web directory” was a worth less keyword, as the traffic coming from it would be worthless in this post.

Then I too got my boots on and went in to give my opinions of solid analytical reasoning why rand’s opinion was baseless, incorrect, pointless, inconsistent and even not to bob’s own belief!

What i felt is that this is very true! You just can’t judge a website for it’s being authority or not on the base of it’s not ranking for the title terms which are too competitive. If Jeff had known that his directory would be in such a deep trouble for not ranking for his title terms he really would have looked in to the matter and did the SEO of his directory. Well anchor text IBLs are the chief factor of SEO this is again proved. But just mix things up (bob even didn’t knew this, I had to tell him that it is good to mix up things…hehe)!

Well whatever happens to this discussion, let your mind be clear about whom to listen and whom to not! Otherwise you would be losing a hefty sum and get nothing in return!
