I never liked the song til I learned it on the keyboard. Got 4 chords thru the verse, but great change in keys within it. Phil sucks on the keyboard and plays simple, but he managed to make the most out of it.

Love this song. His lyrics are often so weird. He said in a 1996 interview that this song was inspired by people in mental institutions. He imagined being stuck in one and trying to find his way home.

Well, if that’s what it takes to write songs that the world knows, then so be it.
