Waiting for the Tsunami

Posted at 3:33 pm under Costa Rica

Tsunami alerts in Costa Rica are what terror alerts are in the U.S. They are frequent and thank goodness they are only alerts and nothing happens.
I rolled into Santa Teresa and the whole town was heading the opposite direction. I was way tired and ready to see my girlfriend after about 3 weeks in San Jose and didn’t pay much attention. She lives about 20 minutes from Santa Teresa up the hill and before I saw her I decided to hit my favorite bar called “Day and Night” right by the beach.
And for the first time ever it was closed. All you saw was the local crackheads and the wind and rain storm was something else. Lighting kept striking like 50 meters from me and then I saw the Argentinian restaurant was the only place open so I hung out there for a minute.
Now I watch Fox News and I guess there are storms everywhere.
Never before in my life have I seen such thunderstorms as here. Unbelievable. I arrived in Costa Rica a year ago almost and remember how from one second to the next the rainy season was over. I cannot wait for that to happen again. Don’t get me wrong, half the time it’s warm, sunny and dry but when it hits it hits.
I like how there are no deserts here because of it. Everything is nice and green. Costa Rica is an excellent spot to be. I will try to live in the U.S. 4 months of the year and 8 months of the year here.
What a blessing in disguise that I was decided upon to check out some other places. I miss Atlanta GA a lot, my daughter lives there, but Costa Rica is an awesome spot.
